Hello, I just upgraded from PSE 9 to PSE 2018. I used the panorama feature in the older version to join the text of two documents into one image. I do genealogy and often find handwritten documents that start in the middle of one page and end on the next page. I create an image of each section then used the panorama feature to create one image. I would select FILE/NEW etc until I got to Panorama where I would select the two photos. I usually had to drag each section manually to where I wanted it before accepting the image since PSE9 could not often figure out where to join up the two photos. That's fine.
This seems to be very difficult for me to do in PSE2018. I have read the tutorials and do these steps
Put the two photos in the bin
In GUIDED, I select each photo whilst holding the Ctrl button
Then I click on Photomerge Panorama
Usually just one of the two photos shows up on the main part of the GUIDED window
Then I click CREATE PANORAMA
It goes through its gyrations, then says it cannot merge them and places, usually the second photo, on the left of a landscape oriented canvas.
I need it to be in portrait mode
I need the first image to be at the top of the canvas and the second image lined up after it.
I would actually probably prefer to drag the images to where I want them myself.
I greatly appreciate any guidance and your patience on this.

Photomerge in 18 SUCKS! I had no problem whatsoever in the earlier version I had, but in 2018 it JUST isn't user friendly. Over and over and over I try to follow the instructions, and nothing seems to work. I used to be able to put many pictures together side by side and save them as a collage, but in 2018 it only allows me to put TWO photos side by side, even if I have 1/2 dozen in the photos bin. Makes me want to throw my computer out the upstairs window. Why did Adobe have to RUIN a perfectly good thing????
