old version 10 is not accepting my serial number

I have registered my product. but once i download, it has me log in. then i have to activate my software. when i do that i type in the serial number again. but when i do this its stating the serial number is incorrect. ive tried this multiple times and every time is not correct. what do i need to do? how can i use my software?

Are you downloading from the product page of your Adobe.com account?  Have you tried copy and pasting the serial number for the product page that I have linked?

Just to be clear, does the message say that the serial number is invalid or that the program has been installed/activated on too many computers already?
