older photoshop elements verison deactivated without my consent

I used Photoshop elements 12 and it was apparently deactivated by Adobe, which instead of starting the app run an advertisement for an update.

However, I am still using the same PC that I used at the time of purchase of elements 12 and there is no reason for me to update the program. Can Adobe legally deactivate my older version?

See my response to your duplicate post here.   What makes you think that Adobe has deactivated your Elements 12?  Mine is working fine.
