Opened file is tiny

When I open a file in PSE15 (working in Win10), instead of the full image, I am getting a tiny image.  Tried resetting all preferences, but that didn't help  screenshot.jpg

Can you drag the window to make it larger?

Yes I can.  But files used to open full sized.  Some setting has obviously changed and I would really like to know how to change it back.

Try resetting the Preferences:

Restore default preferences

Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements Editor displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug‑ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file could be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults.

Note: Deleting the preferences file is an action that cannot be undone.

Do one of the following:

  • Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
  • Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.

A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements Editor. For information on a specific preference option, search for the preference name in Help.

Thank you for the reply.  I had previously reset preferences but just tried the control, alt, shift maneuver.  File did open full size with default settings.  However, when I reset preferences to allow floating documents in export mode, the file once again became tiny when opened. This is a normal setting for me and have never had this problem before.

Well, thank you!  That opened up a whole new tab area that I have never even looked at before.  It would seem that what I need is "Float all in windows".  However, that option works only for the current image.  If I open a new file, it reverts back to tiny.  Is there somewhere to select as default.

Update:  did google search on floating window problem and found this

Elements 15: Floating all windows not working | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Seems that this problem is related to win10 update.  ARGHHH!  Why does windows do this?!?!?!?   Always dread their updates.

Anyway, thanks for all the help.  If anyone should find a fix for this problem, please let us know.

That's a bummer. Just to confirm, did you try closing and reopening PSE after you selected the Float command? I'd hope it would make the behavior persistent after that. Except for the bug thing...

Yes.  Even did a computer restart - just hoping.  Not resolved.  Maybe Photoshop will do an update to fix
