Opening Photoshop CC from Elements

Explorer ,
Oct 20, 2017 Oct 20, 2017

I have just installed Photoshop CC and have Elements 14. If I try to change the default editing application to Photoshop (from Photoshop Elements Editor) it tells me I can't because it will do it automatically. But regardless, when I go to a photo to open the editor it will only open "Photoshop Elements Editor". Have already tried closing everything and reopening... Where am I going wrong?

It does work for me, whether from PSE14 or PSE 2018?

I'm a Windows guy.  I guess I guess I'll have to step out of the conversation.

Hi,

Just to confirm how you are selecting the editor, when you have selected the image, do you go to the bottom of the window, click on the triangle to the right of the Editor button and see something like the following?

pse-14-ed.jpg

And do you then select Photoshop?

Brian

Yes, I get that (which is more than when I first posted here). If I select the PS option it creates a new file in organiser of XXX_edited-1.JPG but it doesn't open it in PS. I feel like I'm missing something obvious!

For me on mac os x 10.11.6, the pse 14 organizer only sends the image to photoshop if i have photoshop cc 2015 or older already open. The pse 14 organizer won't actually open photoshop, though that may be because i have several newer photoshop cc versions installed as well.

Same is true for the pse 15 organizer as well.

On the other hand pse 2018 works just fine in that regard as it opens the image photoshop cc 2018.

The other older versions used to work, but then something must have gotten discombobulated, but since i don't use that command much, i couldn't say even around when that happened.

It might be worth doing an uninstall/reinstall of pse 14 and see if that reestablishes the link

I did have PS open. Having just subscribed to PS I don't want to have to upgrade Elements too but it's pretty frustrating that the images aren't opening in it. Also not sure i fancy the risk of removing 14 and then adding it back...

I'm having the same problem.  Did you find a solution?
