Each camera model comes with its own raw format.

You would need Elements 15 to open the files directly.
So, you can either:
- use the raw converter supplied with your camera and send a tiff format file to the Elements Editor
- Pay the upgrade to Elements 15 (or wait for a new version expected in September or October). You may find PSE15 for less than the upgrade price from big resellers. You can download a trial version of Elements 15 which is valid 30 days.
- or download the free DNGconverter software mentioned in the above faq. It's an independent software which can batch convert a whole folder of your raw files to the DNG universal raw format that your PSE13 can read and edit. A step more, but free.
