Hi all, new to this forum. I just upgraded from 2020 to 2024 and catalog for organizer properly transfered. But new files are not being added in the watched folder for some reason. Am I missing something?

Have you checked that your folders are properly set in the Watched Folders dialog? Have you relaunched the program and/or rebooted your machine? It's also possible that media analysis is taking place in the background and it can interfere with the import dialog coming up right away.

Yeah perhaps, I see analyzing faces is still happening. The watched folder is set correctly. I'll see what happens when faces are finished. Thanks for sharing.

How can you see if analysing faces is still going on - I don't see any notification on my screen but faces keep getting added to previously saved people - also my watched folders don't seem to be importing automatically

I tried all those but still no update, even after face analysis finished. I even restated the watch folder. Oddly, if I edit anything to an watched folder it will update but not when initially added to the watched folder.

Are the files possibly duplicates of files already in the catalog?

Nope, for example, jpegs I edited updated in the organizer. But RAW files, which are in the same folder but left as original were not, even after editing. However, I bypassed the problem by simply highlighting them then using import->get media to update organizer.

Are your jpeg/raw files stacked?

I would discourage you from splitting your catalog. Albums are a much better way to go.

Albums don't duplicate any media files. They are just 'playlists', lists of files, possibly in your custom order. They are lists of pointers to the existing media files and take negligible space in your main catalog database.
By the way, I never use watched folders. I always choose myself when it's best to import from selected folders. No background task to slow my workflow. Same theoretical process than watched folders. I can't say what is happening to you...

That's a good point.

. . . and my catalog has over 250k media files. With all the search tools available in the Organizer, it doesn't take me long to find any one I am looking for.

You will see a notification in the lower right of the status bar, next to the catalog name:

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. There are two kinds of tags - keyword tags and People tags. Keyword tags are added manually or are imported with tags from other sources (even other catalog files that are imported). People tags are added after face recognition takes place. So do you mean that you have faces found for people that have already been manually tagged in some fashion? That would be normal (but can get to be confusing). If you explain more about what is happening, I can offer you some suggestions to clean up the catalog.
