Original Picture not being saved after edited version is saved

After I have finished editing my picture and saved it (under "save as") I find that the edited version is kept on Elements organizer, however my original version is not being saved. I have followed the video tutorial and have edited and saved the pictures as instructed on the tutorial, however when I go back into Elements organizer it only shows the edited version and the original version is not "staggered" as it is supposed to be. Can someone provide more detailed instructions to help me correct/fix this?

What version of Elements are you using?  I suspect that if you are in a recent version, you do not have the Details view showing.  Hit Ctrl+D and you will be in Details view which will show you your stacked version sets containing the original and edited images.
