PE.20 on Mac Catalina : Problem when saving first edit

First edit with PE.20 on new Catalina seemed to go as usual ....... until I saved.

The image I had imported from Photos was 4.9MB - the new edited version was only 500k maximum.

What went wrong ?

Do I have to import in a new way ?
