PE 2024 Camera Raw opening photos but not able to process them

Loaded PE 2024 today. Installed Camera Raw and opened the photos, but instead of the controls I got "Camera Raw requires GPU acceleration to update photos". I use PE 2018 almost daily and Camera Raw has always worked perfectly. Can someone help me

What operating system are you using?

If in the Photoshop Elements 2024 editor you go to Help>About Plug-in (Windows) or Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024 Editor>About Plug-In (Mac) and click on Camera Raw, what Version does it say?

It seems Adobe has updated from Camera Raw 15.5 to Camera Raw 16.0 in Photoshop elements 2024.

There have been a multitude of posts in the Camera Raw and Photoshop forums about the same issue

Do you have a desktop or laptop?

If in the Photoshop Elements Editor you go to Edit>Preferences>Performance

what does the Graphics Processor Settings show?

I have a Laptop with an external screen. Below is Graphics Processor settings in PE. Elements 18 works great

I believe the problem is your laptop has a integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500, which doesn't meet the requirements for camera raw 16.

Camera raw 16 requires a graphics card with DirectX 12 and and even though you have DirectX 12, your Intel 5500 can only use the feature level for DirectX 11_1

Do you also have a discrete graphics card?

You can check by opening the Device Manager

then look under Display Adapters

thread and download the older version. It seems to have fixed the issue.

Thank you for all your help it has been appreciated. Have done quite a lot of research including loading Adobr CC. Photoshop would not run either. According to one source my laptop is obsolete.

Have decided to stay with PE 18 at this stage and update my laptop soon.
