Permanently Removing Clipping mask

Hi Guys, 

Can any one help me.. 

Every time I add a new layer it automatically comes up with an arrow pointing down. How can I stop this form happening permanantly?

You are in the Photoshop Elements forum, not the Photoshop ecosystem one.

My guess is that you are using an old Ctrl G shortcut which has changed since. What happens if you use the menu instead of the shortcut?

Go to Window>Adjustments and from the fly-out menu uncheck Clip to Layer.
