Photo to small as I drag to template why

I'm new to any photo shop program. I just bought photo shop Elements 2018. My question is after you select your photo is goes to your bin. When I drag my photo to my template it's really small as I'm dragging it. It is also small on my template. I have watched youtube videos and they drag their photos, and it's big and then they have to downsize it. I'm having to enlarge my photo and it looses the pixels. Why is my photo small and theirs is large on the template. I have not done anything to change the photo either. Thanks Christin

Hi,

This probably due to a difference in resolutions.

If the image you are inserting has a higher resolution than the template then the image will appear smaller when inserted.

If you select the image or template and the go to Image -> Resize -> Resize Image, you should be able to see its resolution.
