I am trying to change some faces, etc. and am doing layers, but am having the following problems:
Every time I bring a photo into photoshop it loads into layers...how do I turn this off?
I am not able to unlock a layer that I have accidentally partially locked. I click on the locks icons but they are not available as working buttons when I click on them while I am on the photo that I am trying to unlock...but, I have never edited the photo so have no idea why it's doing this! I was working last night and everything was working fine. But, now everything seems to not be going back to default. I close out of photoshop to start over, but it just keeps doing the same thing! I can't unlock the layers and it's not letting me change the order of the layers by dragging.

You can delete any layer that you do not want. Or, you can turn off the visibility of the layer by clicking on the eye icon on the layer in the layers palette.

There is no such thing as a partially locked layer. You can unlock a layer by dragging the lock to the trash, or by double clicking on the layer to convert it to a regular layer;

How are you going about dragging the layers?

Perhaps you can explain more artfully just what it is that you are trying to do.
Where do the replacement "faces" come from?

Usually only the background layer is locked. To unlock, go to the layers pallet and double click on the locked layer. If a background it will change to layer zero. Click OK.
