Reset the preferences:
Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements Editor displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug‑ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file could be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults.
Note: Deleting the preferences file is an action that cannot be undone.
Do one of the following:
- Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
- Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.
A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements Editor. For information on a specific preference option, search for the preference name in Help.

None of these solutions works, and I wish Adobe would get off their A## and fix this. My Premiere Elements works fine. If they expect me to purchase CC when they cannot even fix this, they are sadly out of their mind.

I am having the similar issue with Elements 12. The Tab fonts on the main page are HUGE and the fonts on the menu items (File, Help, etc.) are unreadable. When opening Adobe Premier elements 12, there's NO fonts at all in the Tabs and the menu items have the same issues as photohop 12. The software had been working fine on Windows 10 for a year where the issue started suddenly. The software locks the computer and forces the computer to reboot. I've reinstalled the software with no affect. I've set all options to DEFAULT, again with no affect. Please advise!!!

It is unlikely you will find an answer on this site. I was basically told to quit complaining (among a myriad of other insults hurled at me by one of the local "champions"), and buy an updated version. I will not do this and give more $$$ to a company that will not support their software for more than 2 years. I did not have a problem with Premier Elements, but I did not like it very much, so I uninstalled both. I also have Lightroom, which has many of the PSE features and adds photo management capabilities. Now that Adobe has gone to a subscription model, expect other developers to fill the gap with quality rivals (like Affinity).

Solution to a similar problem is being talked about in this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/photoshop-element s-10-pull...
Please see if this is helpful.
