HI Dear,
Seit dem letzten WIN-Update läuft Photoshop Elements 12 nicht mehr. In
den Drop-Down Feldern wird kein Text mehr angezeigt und auch in der
zweiten Zeile fehlt jeglicher Text. Eine Neuinstallation hat keine
Änderung gebracht.
Meine Windows Version ist 1703, Built 15063.413. Virenscanner im System
ist McAfee, Windows Firewall und Avira.
Gibt es eine Lösung?

Sometimes McAfee can cause problems with Windows updates which may result in only partial installation. You could try rolling-back w10:

Hi, I have the same problem since I updated Win10 to the Creators Update (same version-number as mentioned by Manfred Tenzer above). I am using Norton on my system, not McAffee, all other Apps are working fine including LR6, Dreamweaver 5.5, PS CS2 and surprisingly Adobe Premiere Elements 12.
When starting PSE12 (only the Editor!) the Welcome-Screen is only a very small area, black without any signs, letters etc. When PSE starts the normal window there is no letter, no word to be seen, the buttons on top are empty, only the main menue shows the normal commands in the headline. The pull-down-menues are only a small frame without any letter or word visible. The commands are clickable, but the window that opens has no signs, letters, words. After some time the program shuts down with an error.
There must be a problem problably with the system font. Was it changed by Microsoft with this update? On the internet I found several persons having the same trouble but no solution.
My PSE 12 is registered and I want to use it as well as before the Win-Update. Up to now I don't want to change my workflow to other tools. So please help me / us.
Rgds.

Thx for answering.
My graphic board is Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT, something elder but the driver is up to date (December 2016), updates will be made automatically.
Everything started with Win10 Creators Update at June 17th. When I take a look into the system information of the graphic board I can see that the driver was installed last time at the same date. Apperently normal but what if the driver was not installed properly?
You are the "IT-PRO", could it be helpful to uninstall the graphics driver and to install the newest version manually?
Thankful for every help!
Rgds.

I have the same problem - with different versions on different PCs.: I use PSE 9, 10, 11.
The error has nothing to do with screen solution or bad graphic card driver etc ...
The error occured with the WIN 10 CREATORS UPDATE from Microsoft - no daubt about it!
I found NO SOLUTION anywhere on the web. At the moment I'm working with a Test version of PSE15.
This program works ... But I want to keep the older versions which worked with Windwos 10 three weeks ago.
REMARK: after the very latest update from WIN10 dated June 16 it suddenly worked again with all versions.
But since i shutdown the computers it all was all worse again.
How to handle it:
1. NEVER EVER install the creators update from WIN10
2. If you have installed it, never turn off the comuter again.
3. Buy some PSE 15 versions which work with creators update.
4. Install a legal WIN7-VM virtual machine on your computers and install the PSE there.
Best way: Adobe should analyze the problem and offer a solution for all users.
In my opinion it may be a problem with a font used by Adobe.
Thanks for any creative idea

Thx Georg, it's a relief that PSE 15 works fine under Win10 CU. In doubt I have to invest once again my money to clear other persons faults.
I do also think that the problem has to be in a (system) font used only from PS-Editor and no other application. Normally there has to be a little notice in the registry which font PS-Editor should use, but I am not the real Registry-Pro so I decided to better keep my hands off.
Maybe we get a solution from Adobe, avoiding your "How to handle"-tips 🙂 .

I investigated some more and searched on my computer for files added or generated on 17. June 2017 - the date of my Win 10 CU update. I found four new fontsfiles on my computer that were added on this date.
These fonts are not visible in SiSoft Sandra, a special software for organizing fonts (Typograf) and also in the Explorer under C:\Windows\Fonts - nothing to see (normally I can see all hidden files). I used an application for fotos (XnView) to find them.
I am not a "Hacker" so I am not able to see what is in this font-files or what they do with my computer.
Maybe there is someone who can use this information.

I found a solution for the problem which is caused by Microsoft Win 10-CU:
I copied ALL FONTS from the Windows folder of an "old" Windows 10 PC via USB stick to the PC with CU (Creators Update) / "no overwriting".
Only a few of the great number of fonts have been copied - but the fonts needed by PSE 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, .... were included.
Now it works - even after several reboots. I think it will also operate with the Windows 7 fonts.
Problem with Win 10-CU seems to be that most of the fonts used by Adobe Products have automatically been deleted!

Hi Georg,
thx. for your message. Unfortunately I have no old Win10-Installation with the old fonts anymore.
So a question to the Adobe staff members:
Is anyone able to find out which fonts are the relevant ones to use the old versions of PSE work furthermore?
However, I decided to purchase PSE15 to feel confident with the upcoming Win-10-Updates.

Hi Georg,
I've two computers. A destop and a Laptop. On both systems runs WIN 10, Vers. 1703, Built 15063.413!. As I mentioned in my first msg, on the desktop Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 does'nt work while on my laptop PSE works fine. Therefore i'm in doubt whether the "font" is the only reasone of not working.
Nevertheless, your proposal is a good work arround and highly welcome if one has a Windos 10 before the update. Thks for your solution. Unfortunately I don't have any old WIN 10 Versions neither I've WIN 8 or 7.
Best regards
Manfred

habe euch eine Email mit einem Download-Link geschickt. Falls es funktioniert, bitte mitteilen.
"Missing fonts" list with some fonts deleted by Creators Update: only the Adobe fonts were listed. There are several more fonts missing.

Hi Georg, never thought that the community could be so helpful! Thx. for the list of missing fonts and the download-zip-file. The download worked fine.
Although I made my decision to stay with PSE15 (I will continue testing on my desktop-PC and than purchase) I am grateful for that because, so I am able to install the PSE12 on my wife's notebook (that I am allowed to use from time to time ... ).
Only thing I am disappoited of is that no Adobe staff made a comment to this successful "conversation of IT-fools" we had here still.
Great pleasure for me!

Be sure you have installed ALL 3 or 4 Updates from Microsoft released after launch of C.U. before!
You may find the updates at the Microsoft Windows 10 update download homepage.

DANKE für den Link mit den Schriften. PSE 11 funktioniert nun wieder. Hatte tagelang alles mögliche versucht und der Fehler kam bei PSE 9 und PSE 11 nach jedem Neustart wieder. Kostete viele Stunden unnütze Arbeit und Nerven.

I have downloaded all the fonts - thank you - but it appears I still had them all already. I still have the same problems with both PSE 9 and 11. But I upgraded to Windows 10 1703 on 25 August but both PSEs were working fine till a couple of days ago. Only today have I noticed any issues. Not had any updates since 25 August. Interestingly the erro messages from both OSEs are displayed in a strnge, basic font.
Any Suggestions? Thnaks.

Try deleting the font cache. The link below has troubleshooting tips:

Thanks for the suggestion. I struggled to do that but since a reboot of the laptop both PSE 9 and 11 are working OK again. Had no Windows updates meanwhile. Strange.

Thanks for the response; however, I am not a techie, nor do I use Photoshop for my business. I use it for personal pictures and simply want to be able to use it more easily. I have used it enough to know where the commands I want are hidden on the "no words" drop down menus, but it is a pain in the butt.
