Photoshop elements 13 won't open Panasonic Lumix Raw Files

New Here ,
Mar 12, 2017 Mar 12, 2017

I have a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 which is supported by Elements 13 but it will not open any Raw 2 Files even though all my updates are up to date. I have a MacBook pro running the latest os.

I followed the Nikon camera similar stream on the forum but the solution given there didn't work for me. I have permissions to read/write to the folder.

Please help! Pointless buying this new camera if I cant open the files to edit!

Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

No, it's not.

See that faq for explanations and details:

FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

Your Elements 13 is too old to support a camera model which did not exist at that time (each camera model has its own, unique raw format).

The first link:

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Tell you that you need at least ACR 9.1

The second one:

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

shows that PSE13 can't be updated to more than version 9.0

and finally, that faq indicates the free solution if you don't want to upgrade to the current Elements 15 version:

you download the DNGconverter software; that independent program can batch convert a whole folder of your raw files to the DNG raw format that PSE13 can read and edit.

I suppose Panosonic delivers its own converter for free with the camera?

It always takes time for Adobe or any other editor to issue a program after a new camera model is released. Some camera makers are smart enough to choose the DNG raw format which will work with older converters.
