Photoshop Elements 14 just spins

Community Beginner ,
Jun 19, 2017 Jun 19, 2017

I was fighting a problem with Premiere Elements 14 and Windows 10. As part of that process I had to reinstall the 2012 C++ Redistributable packages. That fixed the Permiere Elements problem but now Photoshop Elements 14 Picture Editor won't start. It just sits and spins and spins. No error messages nothing to indicate a problem, but it never ever comes up.

What should I do? I am getting tired of reinstalling software that worked before the latest Windows upgrades but if that's what it takes, I will. With no error messages I don't know where to start on this.

Thanks for your help.

I have similar problems with elements 8 and 10 after loading the latest Windows 10 update.  8 and 10 tell me that there is a hardware error and quits.  Elements 11 almost comes up but doesn't function.  Selecting from the options from file through tools, only the immediate left side of the panel appears.  Elements 10 was expendable so I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results.

Hi mtsviv,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forum.

I understand you are facing issue to start Adobe Elements .

Could you please try the following steps:

- Go to location

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\

- Rename "SLCache" to "SLCache.old"

- Go to location

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\

-Rename "SLStore" to "SLStore.old"

If inside C:\ you do not find "ProgramData" folder then it means it is hidden then to open it

- Open "Run" command

- Type %ProgramData%  inside Run command

- Hit "Enter"

Open Adobe Elements & give it some time to open (30 seconds approx)

- It should ask you to activate the product

- Sign in with your Adobe ID

- Enter your serial number & activate the product

Hope this helps

Happy Editing

Thanks

Regards

Dhananjay

Nothing, that I can see, changed. Elements 8 returns msg: Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.

Same with elements 10. Have not tried elements 11.

All other functions of this system to be in good working order.

Thanks for the try.

LATEST

Microsoft shipped another update to W10 and since I suspected that the previous update had caused the problems that I was having, I tried my Elements again.  All three versions worked as before.  My opinion is that the W10 update had caused the problem which a later update corrected.
