I have purchased and installed Elements 15 about a month ago. It worked great for about a month, then I could not even open the program anymore. At first it would simply get stuck at the introduction page where one is supposed to chose between Photo Editor, Organizer, or Video Editor (which I also purchased and installed). Yesterday I uninstalled both programs, downloaded both pieces of software and reinstalled them. They worked for 1 day. This morning, I double clicked on the desktop link to Photoshop, the page opened to chose between Photo Editor, Organizer, or Video Editor. When I chose Photo Editor, the Editor does not open. I can open Organizer and Video Editor, but can not open Photo Editor, even through Organizer. I have tried to remove the suggested Apps from other blogs but my computer does not seem to have them? Can anyone help, don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall each time I want to edit.

Actually LavaSoft is a Chrome extension and a known conflict with many Adobe products. Uninstalling LavaSoft and all related DLL files fixes the problem.
Photoshop crashes with Lavasoft Chrome extension installed
In your Windows File Explorer, turn on Hidden Items and File Name Extensions so you can find the DLL files.

HI Luis,
To resolve the crash you are facing, you can try either of the following steps:
1. Uninstall Web Companion
Go to your installed programs list and look for any application named 'Web Companion'. If it is present there, uninstall it and try launching Photoshop Elements now.
2. If the above workaround doesn't help, go to : C:\WINDOWS\system32 and look for 'LavasoftTcpService64.dll'
Rename this file and now try launching Elements.
Thanks,
Anwesha

Hi Joey,
Do you get any error message while trying to launch Editor?
You can also try launching Editor directly from installed location : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 15\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
If this doesn't help, try the following steps:
While launching Editor, keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed. This will ask you to Delete Elements Settings file? Say Yes.
Let us know if the problem still persists.
Thanks,
Anwesha

The web companion Lavasoft but I have not found this program on my computer.
I get no error message, it just never starts from the screen that gives me the chance to pick between the Photo Editor, Organizer or Video Editor. It does show that I choose Photo Editor, and the blue flag thing shows that it is thinking, but it will think for hours.
OK, I just tried to launch directly from the installed location and this did not help. The window for the choice of the three programs also does not open. Simply nothing happens.
I then tried to launch from the link on the desk top, the application starts to open, the Icon on the bottom taskbar even opens and I get the screen to choose between the 2 editors and the organizer, but the program does not open.
I tried opening the program from the installed location with Ctrl + Alt + Shift and a screen with multiple tabs appears. Security, General, Details, Compatibility, Digital Signatures and Previous Versions. But I could not find anything that asked me to Delete Elements Settings file.
A bit more information, I am using a Dell computer which is also been unsuccessful implementing the new Windows 10 Updates for many weeks.

Hello Neeraj,
Unfortunately the Run as Administrator did not work. I get an message that asks if I want to allow this App to make changes to my computer. The first time I tried, I clicked "yes" and the window went away but the program did not start. I tried again and clicked "no" and the same happened. Window went away but program did not start.

Not sure if this is also critical, but Element Primiere Elements Editor works fine as well as the organizer. I also tried to open Premiere from the original installed location and it opened directly, no window to chose between Photo Editor, Organizer, and Video Editor but opened video Editor directly.

But when I opened from the link on the desk top, Adobe Photoshop Elements 15 does show up in the Task Menu and the screen to chose between the three prorgams come ups. From here I pressed End Task, but when I tried to reopen it or run it again, I got the same results. Simply nothing happens.
Also, from here I can open Organizer and it shows up as an additional task in the Task Menu. Going back to open Photo Editor does not help. Again I click on it and nothing happens.

Try again to delete the prefs.
Press the three keys Ctrl+Alt +Shift whilst simultaneously clicking to launch Photo Editor.
Keep the three keys depressed for one or two seconds and then release. You will get a message asking if you wish to delete settings. Click Yes and wait for the Photo Editor to Launch.

Hello All,
Thanks for the help. Last night I uninstalled the software again, then reinstalled it. It worked last night, and it worked for a second time today. So this is an advance from last time. If it stops working again, I will certainly try to delete the prefs again, but last time I was not successful in getting the message asking you to delete the settings.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi
Please get to the control panel and repair the MS visual c++ 2012, 2013 & 2015 packages, restart the machine after repairing all and then check if the photo editor opens.

Hello All who had an interest in this, I did not yet go back an repair the MS visual c++ 2012, 2013, & 2015. But as I wrote earlier, re-installing the software a second time seems to have worked and I have now been able to use Elements 15 for 3 straight days without a problem, so I will mark this as closed.
