Photoshop Elements 2021 does, or does not, support A7iv RAW (.ARW) files yet?

Hi,

I just received a new Sony A7iv, and I did some shooting that created RAW files (.ARW).

According to this:

Cameras supported by Camera Raw (adobe.com)

I think that is saying that the Sony A7iv should be supported now, but when I try to open a RAW file from the Sony A7iv, I get a popup:

The Help => About => Plugins => Camera Raw shows:

jimohaya_1-1640607684451.png

I checked the Updates in Elements, but it is grayed out.

This is what Help => About shows:

Can someone tell me how I can get Elements to handle the RAW files?

Thanks,

Jim

@jimohaya, The A7 IV requires Adobe Camera Raw v14.1. You've got ACR v13. Follow these instructions to update the Camera Raw in Elements.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/camera-raw-update-not-available.html

Pay particular attention to steps 7 - 10.

Hi,

Thanks!  This is what it shows after those steps:

jimohaya_0-1640610685771.png

And I was able to import the A7iv ARW!!!

Thanks for that but I have another question:  I could've sworn that a short while ago, I got a popup (maybe when I opened Elements) that notified me that there was an update for the ACR, which I then did do.  Do you know why that update didn't apply to Elements?  Is it because it only changed the ACR for CC (which I don't use)?

Thanks again!

Sorry I also have a question that I've wondered about for awhile:  Am I (or will I ever) be able to use Super Resolution in the ACR in Elements?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim, the Super Resolution feature is only available in the full Photoshop.

GREAT! I have no idea why the update you mentioned didn't work.

I tried this, and I was already updated, but I still get this message saying my camera is not supported by the RAW plug in. Any other ideas??
