Hallo Zusammen,

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
Which version of the application are you using now? How are you trying to update it?
There is no update for this version, as far as I know. You can upgrade by purchasing the latest version of the software.
Updates for Photoshop Elements and Camera Raw (adobe.com)
The Creative Cloud desktop does not embrace Photoshop Elements.
Let us know if this helps.
Regards,
Ranjisha

If you have upgraded your MacOS to Ventura, Elements 2021 will not work well, if at all. You will need to upgrade to Elements 2023.

Many thanks, I have Ventura 13.1. But ervytime when I start Elements it asks me for an update. If I say yes I got the folowing Message.
When I choose "Abbrechen" I can work with Elements and save my work. But I can't close Elements without a hard termination of Elements. I do not want to pay 100€ every 1,5 years while Adobe is not able to support an OS. Is there a possibility to say Elements not to update? Otherwhise I am very disappointed about this product strategy. Do they realy want me to buy to a new version nearly every year for a couple Euros even I already bought a full version?

I know nothing about Macs, but it looks like it is Apple that is telling you to update.
And it is Apple that you should be complaining about. The OS is supposed to support the programs that run on it. Apple fails to support legacy programs when it updates the MacOS.

Hey Greg, thanks for your reply. I am no expert but I work for an IT cmpompany. Unfortunately I have a different view. The OS is the basis and the application have to follow the OS - of course not for everytime (e.g. SAP and S4) but when I buy a software like elements I expect form the producer that it supports (maybe with a time delay) upcomming OS Versions. In this case we we see that adobe is able to support Mac OS Ventura with the new version Elements 2023. If I do not freeze my OS (what makes no sense) I can't use Elements 2021 without trouble. At the end of the day Adobe want me to upgrade to the new version of elements for 80€. And latest in two years they want me to do is again. This is pure money making and it disapoints me. Nevertheless it seems that their selling strategy works. I am shure sooner or later I will by the update even if it feels not OK.

Hi Thomas,
In simple terms, The OS is the part of code which provides the result of the code of the application. If you delete or radically change the OS code so that orders given by the application can't work, that means that the application no longer can execute all or part of the code of the application itself. The application itself must be (generally partly) rewritten to give the same result as before.
Just compare Apple and Windows. The same logic asks them to make changes to the OS for good reasons. The fact is that in each of the recent years, there has been changes due to new technology, hardware etc. Apple has chosen to introduce new changes each time, making old application versions unable to continue working. Microsoft has managed to offer new OS version which can still work with most of the old PSE versions (I can still work with PSE 6).
Application software companies have to offer a solution to keep in line with the current state of technology and to offer new features. That can't be offered for free considering the development costs. Your PSE license is the old model, which is referred to as "perpetual license", meaning there is no limitation in time, but only IF you are working on the system requirements specified, hardware, OS version etc.
To be precise you can expect a free update in the last or two lasts years. Otherwise PSE offers a new version each year to support new features, hardware or OS version. All installed versions are independent. If you have an older version, you can get a 20% rebate for your fidelity.
Now, PSE is very marginal in Adobe's offer. So, most of its customers base is professional and widely accepts the subscription model where you "rent" the software by monthly or yearly payments and you get very frequent updates including for new OS versions. For serious users, that is more interesting than buying a new Elements version every year.
So, if you want to keep your hardware and OS version several years with the same software version, you can look at what has happend in the five last years and take the risk. Or you should agree to the fact that getting a new OS and hardware version when you want requires upgrading your application versions each time.
