Photoshop Elements 2026 Polygon Lasso Issue

I got a notice this morning that my Photoshop Elements 2026 had updates installed to fix bugs. I am a daily user of Photoshop Elements. Since the update, the polygon lasso tool does not work properly. If I try to add to a selection by holding shift key to start the addition, the polygon lasso behaves like I am constantly holding the shift key down. It moves slowly and jumping if I move the cursor. I use this tool everyday and it has never behaved this way before. It's basically unusable this way.

I have rebooted, which had not effect.
