My computer crashed and I lost just about everything. I had , long ago, saved Elements 9 along with it's Reg.# but now when I try to load it from a portable drive I get , ERROR 6. Can anyone help?
Thanks Greg. Will not have a opportunity to try these fixes until next week.I will get back to you with my results. Thank you. Regards.

Greg, had a chance to try the fixes you suggested. Now I am getting three new messeges . when I click to close one another opens. They are as follows:
The code execution cannot proceed because ExtendScrip. dll was not found.
The code execution cannot proceed because aif_ogl.dll was not found.
The code execution cannot proceed because ScCore.dll was not found
The code execution cannot proceed because Face Detector. dll was not found
Any more ideas about the next step?

You need to install pse 9 on your computer.
Running pse 9 from a portable drive won't work.
There are too many other files besides the pse 9 program itself that need to be on the actual boot drive.

Thanks Jeff, that is what I am doing. I installed the program onto my new desktop from the portable drive I had saved it on.

Did you use the actual Photoshop Elements 9 installer?
It won't work if you just copy over files.
You can download the Photoshop Elements 9 installer from your Adobe account:

Hey Jeff, I purchased the software in 2011, from Amazon.com, and I guess I never resistered it at the time of purchase. When I go to my Adobe account the software is not listed. When I try and register it with the SN# it says the number is already in use and it will not allow me to do anything.
