I recently upgraded to PhotoShop Elements (PSE) 24 from version PSE version 22 about a month ago. My previsous version 22 was stable and rarely if ever experienced issues. Version 24 is just awful! Everytime I use the Photo Editor - and I don't mean the blue screen of death, the entire computer shuts down instantly and reboots (no screen). I'm getting tired of having to restart my computer everytime I use PS Elements 24.
I've deleted and reinstalled the Photoshop Elements 24three times - but still no fix. I also purchased Premier 24 with PSE 24 but elected not to install it as well because it was also having stability issues.
I'm running the lastest version of Windows 11, all updates installed, latest version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 24, with RAW. I ran sfc /scannow - no errors. I have a GeForce GTX 3070 GPU installed if that matters. The computer operates satisfactory with all other installed programs and Apps. Only PSE 24 crashes my computer. Below Sys Info on my computer:
Elements Organizer 24.0.0.0
Core Version: 24.0 (20230922.Git.master.31442ae)
Language Version: 24.0 (20230922.Git.master.31442ae)
Current Catalog:
Catalog Name: 2022 Master Catalog 1
Catalog Location: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\2022 Master Catalog 1\
Catalog Size: 348.2 MB
Catalog Cache Size: 1.3 GB
System:
Operating System Name: Windows 10
Operating System Version: 10.0
System Architecture: Intel CPU Family:6 Model:5 Stepping:5 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2
Built-in Memory: 31.9 GB
Free Memory: 11 GB
Everytime, and I mean everytime I try to Colorize an image in the Photoshop Editor my computer crashes and reboots. The repeated crashes have decimated the Catalogue file which now need to be rebuilt - repaired from scratch which takes considerable time with 82,560 images.
I have the faintist clue what may be causing this issue. Fourteen reboots today alone from PSE...I finally gave up and quit using the PSE editor because I have other necessary work to do. 😞
I'd appreciate any insight on how to resolve this issue. At this point I'm about ready to give up on PSE 24 and look elswhere.
Thanks -

Make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).

Please confirm your studio driver version. The driver you mention earlier was released about 9 years ago.
I have a rtx 3060 with 12GB of ram- not sure if your driver would be that different, definatly should not be 9 years old.
The screenshot of your system info indicates you have windows 10 installed, not windows 11.

Try turning off all media analysis in the Organizer. Also turn off Auto Synch if that is turned on in your preferences.

Both the Auto Sync and Media Analysis is turned off. The computer still crashes (reboots) every time I click on Enhance => Colorize Photo in the Photoshop Editor. Interesting that I never had this issue with PSE version 22. As soon as I upgraded to version 24, my computer started crashing (rebooting) nothing else changed in the system configuration.

I received a "Private" message from Adobe - see below. I provided the SNs for my 2024 purchased products and requested a refund. Today is February 16, 2024 and I never heard back from Adobe. Completely non-responsive. My computer still crashes each and everytime I try to use the Enhance - Colorize feature in PSE 2024.

That's a 100% scam, don't provide them anything. Scammers join the forum and prey on users such as yourself. Broken / improper english is a good indicator.
Please report that email to an admin- they will make sure the person that sent you the email gets booted.
NEVER EVER send your serial numbers to anyone.
Adobe employees always have a little adobe logo in the bottom right of their profile.

I just re read your post: Your provided your serial numbers to a scammer. IMEDIATELY log into your adobe account, make screenshot of all your products: ALSO CHANGE YOUR ADOBE ACCOUNT LOGIN PASSWORD.

Glenn - I didn't catch it and I was scammed. It never occured to me that crooks would be on the Adobe Community board. Wow, I gave them my email address and Serial Numbers for my registered Adobe products which could explain why I'm now having license issues.
This is a HUGE fail both on my part for not recognizing the Scam and also for Adobe for releasing and not supporting a piece of crap software, aka Photoshop Elements 2024.. Had I not had a major problem with the software I certainly wouldn't have posted on this board.
The Adobe Community has caused me a great deal of grief and pain - not help!!!

Too late - Scammer has my Serial Numbers. I reported scammer to Glenn.
Please fix my paid for product - it's still broken. I agree with the Scammer; Adobe should provide me with a full refund or fix the defective product!

Okay - I've been scammed and I never thought it would happen on this community forum... but apparently scammers are members of this board. Scary!
Since the PSE Colorize feature crashes my Desktop computer (reboot) everytime I try to Colorize a photo, I decided to install PSE 2024 on my Windows 11 laptop computer which I take with me on travels. Surprisingly, PSE 2024 and the Editor Colorize feature work flawlessly on my laptop - no crashes - it just work great.
This indicates to me that there's an issue with my Desktop PSE installation and/or configuration. Even though I've uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 2024 on my Desktop multiple times, the Editor Colorize crash issue persists. This leads me to believe there is file or registry corruption causing the problem. I looked at my registry and program folder and noted remnants of several previous versions of PSE on my computer dating back to version 18.0. Without completing a fresh Windows 11 install and reinstalling all my applications, is there a way I can clean all the old Adobe PSE installation folders and registry entries off of my computer? A simple PSE application uninstall does not remove the old files and registry entries. I believe after removing old PSE info from my Desktop and reinstallng PSE 2024 might possibly fix the Editor Colorize crash problem.

Bonjour,

In addition to your Nvidia card do you possibly have an integrated Intel GPU on your desktop? If so, try disabling it.
@Glenn 8675309, have you reported the scammer to a moderator or someone at Adobe?

I have a Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10850K CPU with integrated graphics in addition to the Nvidia 3070 GPU installed on the MOBO. Graphics are set to PEG and Multi-Monitor is Disabled in BIOS. Using the PSE Editor -> Colorize feature still crashes my Desktop computer every time. All Windows, MOBO and Nvdia software and drivers are current.
I'd still would like to know if there's a FREE utililty program to clean ALL remnants of Adobe off my Desktop computer to include folders, files and registry entries afterwhich I'd try another clean install of PSE.

I ran the Log_Collector_tool_6_0_All.exe application and my installation and log info was uploaded to Adobe for analysis.
I also attempted to run the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe applicatiion but it fails to excute. When I right click on the application and select run as Admin I only briefly see a small black box pop up on the display then the box vanishes. Not sure why this Adobe cleaner application fails to run.

Make sure to use a Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver), but not the latest version - it has issues with Premiere Pro and may also have issues with PSE.

Only the Nvidia Studio Driver is installed. I'm currently running version 551.23. The latest version is 551.61. Which Studio Driver version has issues with Premiere Pro? I purchased Premiere Pro with PSE but currently it's not installed on my system.
