Photoshop Elements hangs on "save" and "save as.." command

Hi,

since today I have a problem with my Photoshop Elements. 

The program hangs on the "save" command. It was working before, the problem started today. I've already tried opening other and new files, restarting the computer and reinstalling the program. Still the same problem. I didn't change anything in the settings of the computer, I didn't install any other programs or plugins. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing the error and how to fix it?

Some characters in non-English versions of the program are not accepted. Try changing the file name (and possibly the path where the file is being saved).

My only other suggestion is to try resetting the preferences file. Go to Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.

Shock, now it works. I waited a while with the program suspended. The window for saving the file opened after about two minutes. I saved the file normally and with the next file the problem disappeared.. amazing. I'll leave my query though in case anyone else has a similar problem.
