Hello,
After having worked with some photos (Editor) the Organizer freezes sooner or later. Can anybody tell me
what the reason could be for this? I don't think the memory is the cause otherwise you tell me that what is installed
is not sufficient:
On the other hand Photoshop is not installed on the C: drive - might this be the reason?
Thanks for your information!

Hello Michel
The System-Info looks now like this:
In the meantime I have reinstalled Photoshop on the C:\-drive and media remains on F:\. I'll work now with these parameters
and hope it will turn out as a good amendment. I have three catalogues with about 62 GB loaded in the Organizer. Would you think that even if
only one of them is active (where I'm working on), I should clear the Organizer from the others?
I thank you very much for your help!
Peter

Peter,
Can you give some more information:
- Are you on Windows 10 with the 64-bits or 32-bits version?
The 64-bits version should give you more available RAM.
Photoshop is not installed on the C: drive
Do you mean the Elements programs themselves or your media (photo/video) library?

I am on Window 10 with a 64-bits version.
By "Photoshop is not installed on the C: drive" i mean that the program (Elements) is not installed there.
Both, the program and the media are on the same drive (F:).
If I'm loading photos from the Organizer to the Editor there is no delay at the beginning - later on the process is slowing
more and more. It's the moment where I have to restart the program in order to clear the memory although the physical
memory seems to have unused space for nearly 2GB.
After having reinstalled Photoshop Elements 14 I did not experience a crash or program (Organizer-) freezing so far.
But the memory problem (if it's one) remains.

I must admit I don't know how to install the software itself on another drive. Is ist because you have a small SSD drive dedicated only to the boot and system drive?
I would not be surprised with memory problems.
A number of program components may still have been installed on the C: drive (Appdata? for instance).
Is the scratchdisk in the editor preference set to the other drive? The C: drive should not be chosen as scrachdisk.
In those preferences you might try to set the RAM to 80% instead of the default in the performance tab.
Maybe post the result of the menu of the editor: File >> System Information.

Thank you for the information.
As my knowledge in IT issues is more or less limited I'm afraid not being able to follow.
- why limiting the RAM by 80% and what are the steps to go there?
- by "System Information" do you mean the ressource monitor?
- do you think I have better install Photoshop Elements on the C: drive where the operation system is located and the media
on different drive (as F:\). Sometimes Windows 10 crashes if adjacent to Photoshop other programs are open...
Only FS X is a SSD.
Sorry for the trouble.

It's increasing, not limiting the RAM useable by Elements.
In the Editor (not the organizer) Menu File >> Edit >> Preferences >> Performance.
By default it's set to 70%, you can increase it slightly, but no more than 80%.
- by "System Information" do you mean the ressource monitor?
No, from the Editor, use the menu Help >> System Info... You can copy and paste the resulting dialog in your answer.
You have a similar Help menu in the Organizer to know more about your catalog.

I think it may be risky to have the program itself on another drive than C:, but I am no expert for that matter...
It's necessary in your case to locate your media files on another drive like F:
Your SSD (E: would be ideal to store your catalogs and to be used as the scratch disk.
Locate your catalog from the Organizer menu Help >> File info (see above). In Windows you have to set the Explorer to show 'hidden' files; then you can copy the whole folder indicated in the resulting dialog to the E: drive. It's a folder containing the database 'catalog.pse15db'. Close the organizer and double click on that catalog.pse15db file. The organizer will open with that catalog copy.
Setting the scratch disk (area of your hard disk used to give you more memory than the RAM):
Editor, Menu Help >> Edit >> Performance (same as the one to increase the available RAM for Elements).
Remove C: as a possible scratch disk and use E:
If I understand well, your media files are already on F:, that's good.
Are you using the organizer with a big number of files and do you use face recognition?
