Pictures don't show in Elements organizer 2020

When importing pictures, they don't show in Elements organizer, except as grey squares. See attached dump. Why, and how can I fix this?

If you hover your mouse over an icon, does a text pop up? If so, what does it say?

What is the format, size and camera source of the files?  That icon appears when the file exceeds the maximum size for photos in the Organizer (although there may be other causes).

Thanks for your reply. No text comes up when I hover over an icon. The size varies from about 6 mb to 150 kb, so that should not be a problem. I have tried to reboot the computer several times, but it doesn't help.
