Preview Problem.

New Here ,
Nov 06, 2017 Nov 06, 2017

Until recently I was able to preview an image that I was about to print, to ensure it would print as I expect.

1:     I would use Adobe Bridge for the photo then open it in Elements so I could work on it.

2:     I would tell it to print and then when the print dialogue appeared I would use the PDF button to view it before printing (it defaults to Preview anyway).

3:     I click on the PDF button and choose to have a preview and it would give me a preview.

At stage three it now just won't open to let me have that preview.

I use a Mac with os High Sierra and it used to work properly.

Please help.

Thank you.

What version of photoshop elements are you using?

From the pdf list you select Open in Preview?

I'm using Photoshop Elements 8.  I know it's a very old version but it DOES work, even in the very latest Mac operating system.

My problem was only with Adobe Bridge CS4.  Again I know it's a very old version but, by going back to the previous Mac OS, from a back up, it's now working.

Your second question, yes I click on the pdf button (in the print dialogue window as shown) and when I click on the pdf button the ONLY choice I have is to open in Preview - which of course doesn't work.

I also have pse 8 and Bridge cs4 on macOS High Sierra and the Print>Open in Preview works here.

Did it ever work on High Sierra or did it stop after upgrading to High Sierra?

Further to my previous post, I found that my Mac OS had corrupted so I did an OS Restore and it now seems to work.

Out of interest, are you on High Sierra 10.13 or 10.13.1?

I must have had a corruption in my operating system because, after I did an OS Recovery, it now works normally but, only with PDF or PNG Files.  It doesn't work with JPEG files that I've got on my desktop and want to look at.

Do you think this is normal?

No i don't think that's normal.

It shouldn't matter what file format the file is as long as the file is able to open in pse 8.

With the Jpegs on your desktop, do they preview after you click on them and press the Spacebar?

You could reset the pse 8 preferences any see if that makes a difference by going to

/Users/User Name/Library/Preferences

and trashing the following files

Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 Settings folder

Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 Paths

com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist

Thank you for your helpful information, from which I've discovered that using the Space Bar they open perfectly.

If I use any other method (double clicking, Open With) I get interference from Adobe Reader:-

Adobe BAD.png

So it seems that the Space Bar (now I know about it) is the best/only way to open screenshots in any format.  Do you agree?
