I am unable to import TIF files into my elements 26 organizer. I get a message saying these files are not supported. However, these are files that have been loaded into Elements 25 with no problem. I can import jpg files, just not tif files. I am able to open the tif files in the elements 26 editor and process them, but trying to import to a catalog is not possible. Suggestions?

I'm not sure why there is no longer Organizer import as these files can be used in the Editor. With so many people shooting on phones it could be that demand is insufficient and Adobe has quietly dropped support. Tiff files can be extremely large and they could affect performance of a catalog system. You could install the free Adobe application Bridge - see image. It's not necessary to import. Bridge is a browser application and it will just see your folders and their contents. You can right-click on any tif thumbnail and choose to open in the PSE 2026 Editor.

It could be a bug. It does seem strange that these files can be edited and saved to Organizer as a version set but can’t be imported directly from a folder. The latest Adobe link suggests they are supported for import and export. I can only suggest you start a chat session with Adobe Support. In the meantime I will raise it with my contacts at Adobe.

I can import TIFF files into PSE 2026 Organizer without any issues. I tried a handful of images and they all worked fine for me. Can you post a sample file that's causing problems?

Hi Jonilohr, I was able to confirm the problem you're having importing TIF files into the 2026 Organizer. I was having the same problem on my PC. But I have discovered a workaround that will enable you to import the files. You need to edit the filename and change the extension from "tif" to "tiff".
Versions of the Organizer earlier than 2026 would import both tif and tiff. I have filed a bug report with Adobe about this problem.

Great detective work! That is indeed what happens to me (PSE 2026 on Windows 11): I can import .tiff files but not .tif. PSE 2025 imports both with no issue.
