problem with elements

what is wrong with photoshop elements 2020? I am in the organizer. I right click on an image I want to edit. I should get a box with a lot of options for which I will click "edit in photoshop elements".  The image is supposed to come right up. It is not doing that right now! I tried it three times and the photo will not open up in the editor.  Generally, photoshop elements is awful slow. It is now several hours since I first posted about this issue. I still can not get any files to open in the editor.  The organizer is not working. I can not edit anything.  what is going on with this software?
