Hi,
I recently bought a Canon 77D. Today I took a number of photos with it in RAW format. I then copied the images onto my computer. However when I went to convert the RAW files to JPEGs (which I have done many times before buying the Canon 77D) using Photoshop Elements (V14) I got an error message telling me that those camera files (from the Canon 77D) were not supported by my version of Camera Raw.
I have spent more than 3 hours trying to download the appropriate version of Camera Raw, but all my efforts have failed.
(I don't know why it has to be so difficult...)
At one stage I did go through a download procedure which appeared to work, but when I went back into PSE, I discovered that it hadn't worked - I got the same error message again. Ugh!
Anyway, I would really appreciate it someone could tell me - in nice clear steps - what I have to do to download the latest version of Camera Raw (or perhaps I should say: a version of Camera Raw that supports RAW files from a Canon 77D).
Would be very much appreciated, thank you.
🙂
Your camera model requires Camera raw v9.10. However, PSE14 is too old to support the raw files from such a new camera and can’t be updated.
Suggested options:
1. Download the free trial of Photoshop Elements 2018. If you decide you like it, you can purchase the upgrade. No need to uninstall the trial. Simply licence with the serial number after buying a download or disk version.

2. Use the free DNG converter.

You can batch convert a whole folder of CR2 images into Adobe raw (DNG) without any loss of quality and the dng files will be backward compatible with your PSE14 software

Thank you 99Jon.
I did what you suggested and it worked.
Such a relief!
If ever you're in Australia, get in touch and I'll buy you a beer!

I would KISS you rayjlynch, for this accurate and correct solution! Like the poster, I had the same trouble and tried Adobe Chat. Oy. I'd have ended up with that Cloud mess (I don't want it) at minimum $20/month, without any idea if it was going to resolve the issue.
Your solution worked perfectly! THANK YOU!
