We are a camera store, I'm posting this question for one of our customers. He has bought a Sony RX100 VII A (RX100M7A) from us. The "A" is in the name because this is a slightly updated version of the RX100 VII - in order to comply with EU regulations determining that all electronic devices that can be charged with a USB-cable can only use a USB-C port, Sony chose to deactivate USB-charging in the RX100 VII, which only has a USB-A(I think) port. This updated version is noted as the RX100M7A, which you can also see in the EXIF information of its photos.
The customer finds that he can't open RAW files in Adobe Photoshop Elements 2025 (Windows 11), despite having updated Elements, reinstalled it, and updated Camera Raw. But, we've tried opening a RAW file from his camera here (Photoshop/Lightroom with Camera Raw 17.4.1, Windows 10) and had no problems. Neither did a Sony representative who tried opening the same RAW file in Lightroom on Mac.
I've speculated that the problem is that the RAW file lists the camera model as RX100M7A, not just RX100M7, and that's why it won't open in the customer's Photoshop Elements. But that doesn't explain why we have no trouble opening it. I'll try attaching the RAW file here. If someone who also has Photoshop Elements 2025 installed could try opening it, it would be very helpful.
There is a good chance the customer did not update ACR correctly for PSE 2025. You install ACR then copy and paste one file.
Here are the instructions to install the latest version:
Download and install the latest Camera Raw version from https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html
Quit all Adobe applications.
On macOS, double-click the .dmg file to mount it.
On Windows double-click the downloaded .zip file to unzip it.
(Windows might unzip the file for you.)
On macOS, doub

Thank you Glenn, I suppose that confirms that specifically Elements 2025 doesn't open the Sony RX1007MA RAW files, and not just our customer's installation of it. Is there a place where we could bring this to Adobe's attention?

I had NO problem opening that DSC00249.ARW file in PSE 2025 on my Windows 11 Pro PC.

Once I reinstalled 17.4.1 it opened just fine.
I had installed ACR thru the program, and it installed 17.0, so I manually updated it to 17.4.1.

That new camera requires ACR 17.3.1.
Elements 2025 has only been updated to ACR 17.0.x I believe. Your customer can confirm what plug-in version he has installed by going to Help>About Plug-in>Camera Raw. If it is anything less than the required ACR version number, all the customer needs to do is follow Glenn's advice and update it manually.

I coulda sworn when I checked that camera model, the one with the A at the end wasn't listed- I used RX100 VII (DSC-RX100M7) in my earlier responses, I was not looking at the DSC listings, and that's on me.

Glenn, it wasn't your fault. Adobe has that camera in an unexpected order. It took me forever to find it too.
