Ok. So the farce begins...... Yesterday I down loaded the trial version of Elements 2018. Firstly I got an error message quoting some re-distributable file error, however it did appear on my desktop. On opening it I noticed that some 16000 pictures were missing from the Catalogue, in fact it only found 429, also it only showed 1Tag out of probably 100 or so. Also Plugins not activated, which 've put down to the fact that this was a trial version. I've been using Elements since the early part of this millenium, and everytime upgraging to the newest version is a painful experience. The last time was to upgrade to Elements 13 and it resulted me being on the phone and allowing access to my PC to an Adobe expert for a total of 4 very long evenings while she resolved similar issues with the number of files missing and Plugins not being given access not matter how hard I had tried and subsequently the Adobe expert. So even though my Elements 13 is working fine do I consider upgrading or do I look for another option?
I don't need Photoshop CC as I'm not a graphic designer but a mere hobbyist and as such I would not make use of all it has to offer. Elements for me is perfect but the grief I experienced upgrading does really take the shine off a new piece of software.

Hi Bob. Unfortunately I uninstalled the application and lost the actual error. All I can remember it mentioned C++, re-distributable, and 2017. I think the error code was 1698 again I can't be sure..... Sorry
