PS Elements 15

Dear Forum,

Thank you very much for the assistance with my problem of Resizing of Photos. I have three further questions and would welcome your assistance.

1. Missing files.

I have recently purchased Elements 15, my previous software is Photo Gallery on which I have stored all my previous photos and is still operational. When I use Elements to import my new photos a copy appears to download on Photo Gallery as well. When I try to open the photos I have imported in Photoshop I am sometimes (but not always) unable to open the photo and am shown the message that the "File is missing" and the computer is unable to locate the missing file. The copy on Photo Gallery is ok and I am able to open it, but obviously I cannot edit the photo in Photoshop. What am I doing wrong?

2. How do I copy or import a photo from Photo Gallery into Photoshop so that I can edit the photo in Photoshop? When I try to use the "Import" facility Elements tells me a fault has occurred and it is searching for a remedy for the problem, which it never finds and I am forced to exit and re-open the system.

3. Opening a new Folder.

I have arranged my folders under different categories, some with sub or even sub-sub-folders. In order open a new folder I right-click on the relative folder and select "New folder". Sometimes, but not always, the "new folder" option is not made available. Where have I gone wrong and why is the option only available in certain circumstances?

I would sincerely appreciate any assistance you could give.

Best regards,

Derrick.

Hi derrickt,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forum.

I understand you are facing multiple issues with Adobe Organizer that are as follow :

Could you please provide the following information :

- Are you using a Windows machine or a Mac?

- Are you using a completely new catalog or an old converted catalog?

- For how long you have been facing this issue?

- Have you saved your pictures in your machine's internal drive , external drive or in any network location?

- Have you updated your Adobe Elements yet?

Hope to get your reply soon.

Thanks

Regards

Dhananjay

Dear Dhananjay,

Thank you for responding to my issues, much appreciated.

As regards the info you have requested I would respond as follows:

     - I am using Windows;

     - I am using two catalogs, one is the "old"system that I used before I purchased Elements. It is a Microsoft system called Photo Gallery. The "new" system I am using is PS Elements that I recently acquired. I am importing all the photos I am now taking into this system. I do however, from time to time, want to import photos from Photo Gallery into Elements and edit these photos in Elements;

     - I have been facing these issues since I acquired Elements which, as I have said, was recently;

     - My pictures are saved in my laptop and, for security reasons, I copy them from time to time to an external hard drive. I have not yet saved my Elements catalogs to the external hard drive;

     - I have not updated my Elements software since I acquired the software.

I trust these answers will enable you to assist me.

Best regards,

Derrick.

Hi Derrick,

Thanks for reaching out.

1. For information about missing files refer to

2. When Organizer crashes at import, does it happen everytime you try to import? or just one time? And are you trying to import from same source every time. Please mention this source.

3. New Folder option would be disabled for the folders where you don't have write permissions. You can verify this by trying to create a new folder at that location by going to that location on hard disk trying creating one from outside Organizer.

Thanks,

Arshla

Dear Arshla,

Thank you for your response, this is much appreciated.

As regards your suggestions:

     -     Issue 1 : I will certainly refer to the two sites you have suggested;

     -     Issue 2 : The problem I am experiencing is when I try to copy or import photos from the catalog in the program (Windows Photo Gallery) I used before I bought Elements. I have tried to do this by using the "copy & paste" facility (unsuccessfully) and also by using the "Import" facility in Elements, which is when I get the "fault occurred" response and I am logged out. As I have said, my objective is simply to import a Photo from my other catalog (Photo Gallery) into Elements in order to edit the photo in Elements. How do I do this?

     -     Issue 3 : I am not sure I understand your suggested solution. What do you mean when you suggest trying to create a folder from outside Organiser? In my previous program (Photo Gallery) I have no difficulty in opening as many folders, sub-folders and sub-sub-folders as I require. However, in Elements this is not the case. Sometimes I can open folders but at other times the box I get when I right-click does not allow me the option of opening a new folder. I can find no consistent pattern in when I am allowed and when I am not allowed to open a new folder.
