PS Elements Organizer 2020 send a copy of file to Trash Folder after adding a Note to the picture

I have Photoshop Elements 2020. Macos Catalina. I noticed that when I add a Note to a picutre in Organizer, a copy of the file gets sent to the Trash Bin. A copy of the file stays in the original directory. Is this normal? I'm afraid someday photos are going to actually get deleted. Thank you.
