So, from the 'expert' view, I click on Text, create a text box, choose my font from the drop-down font menu, and then attempt to choose a style. (italic, bold, condensed etcetera) from the drop-down style menu.
The menu of style options pops up... and a second later... goes blank.
If I am REALLY quick with my mouse, then I can select a style (virtually at random), and the system accepts that style. (and styles the text accordingly), but with only a second (or less) to act, this is hardly a practical option.
When it 'blanks', it really IS blank... you cannot select anything by clicking in the blank menu area. (so we are not talking about the style options being presented as white text on a white background or anything like that.)
I have already tried resetting preferences (by starting up with Ctrl-Alt-Shift), to no avail.
It may be a coincidence, but on Friday I accepted an Update of PE (and Premiere as well). This is the first time I have used PE in anger since then, so I wonder if it is related ? Is there any way of "winding back" a Photoshop update ?
The system is windows 10 professional (fully updated) with Photoshop Elements 14.
Photoshop Elements 14
I have been using this installation of PE without problems (other than ignorance) for over a year now.
Any suggestions gratefully received
Well, this is annoying. The problem has gone away !
It SEEMED to relate to a complicated font - which for some reason was appearing as the default - which had LOTS of styling options.
I changed font, restarted the program, made a cup of tea, and when I came back... the style list was working again... even for the complicated font.
SOLUTION: make tea. ??
