PSE 15, facial recognition not working

Explorer ,
May 08, 2017 May 08, 2017

I recently built an bootable external drive for debugging some software issues I am having. I loaded macOS 10.12.4 and PSE 15 (with latest updates). Elements seems to be okay. I then imported 40,000 photos making sure that Preferences|Media-Analysis|Run facial recognition automatically was checked. I got zero people.

I created another catalog and imported 500 photos. Still no people showed up. The People view said that it was analyzing photos, but didn't find any people.

I tried Preferences|Media-Analysis|Run facial recognition automatically and Reset Face Analysis and Organizer crashed.

I tried Preferences|Media-Analysis|Reset Face Analysis and got "Face Data has been reset". Still no People.

I selected a single photo with 3 obvious faces and clicked "Mark Face". The result was "People Analysis has yet to be performed on the select media. Would you like to start the analysis now?" I said yes and Organizer said "analyzing your media..."  0%.  After waiting 10 minutes, I'm still at 0%.

HELP.

Hi Alan,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Can you please let us know the source of media you are importing? Are those images present locally on your machine or on any other external drives?

Also, is it for the first time you are working with FR ? Just wanted to clarify if some recent changes caused this behavior.

Also please try turning Run Face Recognition Automatically preference on/off and see if it helps.

If FR still does not run, we would recommend to re-install the application once.

Thanks,

Anwesha

Hi Al_Cof WSFL,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forums.

I understand you are facing issue with face recognition feature of Adobe Organizer 15.

Could you please provide me the following information?

- Are you using a Windows Machine or a Mac?

- Have you updated Adobe Elements 15 yet?

- Have you been using any previous version of Adobe Elements before?

Thanks

Regards

Dhananjay

I loaded macOS 10.12.4 and PSE 15 (with latest updates).

I have a second iMac running macOS 10.12.4 and PSE 15 (with latest updates) and faces works fine, but Elements 15 runs unbearably slow (see my previous question). That is why I built a second computer to eliminate any conflicting applications. Now Elements 15 seems okay, but Organizer 15|People is broken.

I have a third iMac running OS X 10.11.x and PSE12. Everything there runs fine.

The images are on the same disc as the OS and PSE.

The whole installation (OS and PSE) is about 1 week old. Other than the standard Apple apps (Numbers, Pages, etc) there are no other apps installed. I basically installed PSE, imported some images, created some albums, and decided to try FR and got no people.

Per your request I deselected all the images from the catalog and imported them with Run Face Recognition Automatically preference off. This made no difference. Also, deselected and imported again with the FR preference on. Again, no people.

What is the proper way to uninstall Organizer (and Elements?) on a Mac?

Reinstallation of PSE 15 seems to have solved the problem. Thank you for your help.
