PSE 18 Vertical Text

Hi All -

I see in Guided Edits we can easily cut out text from a background image. Wonderful! Except I want to do a vertical text and see nowhere how this can be done. Is this possible and how? Thanks for any help!

Go to Expert, then you can select the Vertical Type Tool.

Yes I understand how to type vertically but my question was how to cut out text from picture vertically. I see nowhere how this can be done. In this example I want the word to read:

C

A

R

S

instead of horizontally.

appreciate any instructoons.

Several ways to do that.

Here's one:

1. Type your vertical text

2. move the text layer below your photo

3. click back on the photo layer thumbnail in the layers panel

4. Go to Layer>Create Clipping Mask

Then you end up with something like below:
