PSE 2018 and graphics driver

New Here ,
Nov 24, 2017 Nov 24, 2017

I updated to PSE 2018 on a Windows 10 computer. When I started the Organizer it says that I am using a generic Microsoft graphics driver and recommend to update. Also, the resolution on the screen has changed and I cannot change it back. Any ideas anyone?

Hi,

I don't think it was the PSE upgrade that caused it but it does sound as though the correct driver for your video card has been lost.

Which version of Windows 10 are you using?

  1. Go to Start -> System -> About
  2. Scroll down to the Windows Specification
  3. You should see version number (e.g. 1703 or 1709

My first recommendation would be to make sure your Windows 10 is up-to-date. If you are on version 1703, the update to 1709 can take a long time (about 2 hours).

If you are up-to-date, right click on the Windows Start button and select Device Manager. Expand the Display adapter and you will probably see Generic device there. Right lick on the adapter and select update driver. Select the option to search for it online.

If the driver doesn't get updated then you will need to go to the manufacturer of the board and see if they have the driver.

Good luck

Brian
