PSE 2020 organizer menus

I have installed PSE 2020 on a desktop with Windows 10.

The Organizer the menu bar is there, the drop-downs work, but various drop-down buttons are not active (e.g. Expand all stacks, File names, Update, etc.) whether or not a specific photo is selected.

How do I activate those buttons?

Have you tried clicking on those options in the drop-down menus to activate them? If you click on Details in the View menu, options that were greyed out will become active. Also, Updates in the Help menu is only active when there is an update available from Adobe.

Hi,

Your suggestion to click on Details in the View menu essentially did the
trick.
My main problem was that I didn't seem to be able to expand the stacks to
show the different edited versions of a photo.
Activating the Details button now shows me the little expand/contract arrow
to the right of each shot, as I was used to in PSE 12.

Hi,

The options are inactive because the operation is not relevant in current state of Organizer, or the current organization of the media.

'Expand all stacks' will be inactive if there is no stacked media in the catalog to be expanded. Select few images, add them to a stack and the option gets active.

Update is inactive because your software is already updated.

Let me know which other options are inactive and you expect them to be active. Let me know in case of other queries too.

Thanks for the response.

My main problem had been a seeming inability to see the various versions of
the many edited photos in my catalog.
Someone else alerted me to activating the "Details" button on the View menu
and that has solved my problem.
I had been using PSE 12 and so was used to seeing a small expand/collapse
arrow to the right of each edited shot. Using the Details view, I now see
that arrow again!

Understood re the Update button. Nice to know that I am up to date!
