PSE 2023 Orgainzer does not launch after re-install

I have had to replace my boot drive and re-install Windows 10 and PSE 23.

The download of PSE 23 was successful and Editor is accessible and usable. However when I click the organizer icon, I get 'Loading the Elements Organizer Workspace', but nothing happens. It is taking up CPU and GPU resource, but after a few minutes the message closes, but nothing launches. I am running this from the PSE overview window.

Windows 10 Home / build 19045.5198

Hi @charliecat61

We appreciate you reaching out to the community. If I understood correctly, Photoshop Elements is launching fine but Elements Organizer closes automatically after launching. Which drive have you installed your app on?

Could you test the issue after rebooting your device? Let us know if it brings any change.

Hi. Thanks for getting back.

More or less correct. I start from here.

[cid:image005.jpg@01DB41B8.2D6E8FD0]

Then after I click on the organizer icon

[cid:image006.jpg@01DB41B8.2D6E8FD0]

Continues for about 30 sec, then vanishes. Organizer does not launch.

Software is on drive c;

I have re-booted, but to change.

Thanks.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

  • Press the Shift key while launching the Organizer.  This will open the Catalog Manager.
  • Create and open a new catalog.
  • If the Organizer opens OK, go to File>Manage Catalogs and open your original catalog.
  • If the catalog fails to open, get back to the Catalog Manager (by relaunching the Organizer with the Shift key, if necessary) and try to repair and optimize the catalog.

I tried the shift key - nothing changed. It did not open the Catalog Manager.

Sorry!

If you are unable to get into the Catalog Manager using the Shift key, I suggest that you completely uninstall the program, remove the preferences file when that option is offered, and reinstall the program.

BTW, did you install using an Admin account?

And also try disabling your firewall and anti-virus programs when installing.

Thanks Greg.

I've uninstalled PSE, deleted the registry entries [using ccleaner] and the folders. I turned off Norton 360 and downloaded PSE again from Adobe.

The uninstall went fine, as did the new installation.

However, I still could not open Organiser, and this time Editor wouldn't open either. Task Manager showed that the app was running and using both CPU and GPU, but then it just stopped with no effect.

I have a feeling that there must be something straighforward that's blocking it, but I have absolutely no idea what.

For background, my boot drive [c] failed a week or so ago and I had to have a new one installed with  new Windows.  PSE worked absolutely fine beforehand. Everything else I've reinstalled is OK, aside for PSE.

Any more ideas?

Keiron.
