PSE 23 Organizer photos/tags issue

I migrated all my files to a new imac from an older one. I had uninstalled PSE 19 on the old imac before the migration. I then installed a trial version of PSE 23 to the new imac. It brought forward some of my old pse data - photos with tags but it did not transfer all the data I previously had. I had been told that I could uninstall the software but the data would remain. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you!

Hi Wasp Rider, you need to backup the catalog on your old computer and restore it to the new computer.  See this article for details.

Thank you for getting back to me. I read the instructions to backing up the catalogue but it shows that I need to backup the the catalogue on my old mac by using the organizer app. I had already uninstalled pse 19 so am unable to do the backup that way. I have everything backed up to an external drive but don't know where the catalogue is and don't know if I can just copy that to the new mac.

I appreciate your help. Thank you.

You could reinstall PSE 2019 on your old Mac to perform the backup of your catalog so that you could restore that backup to your new computer.  Just make sure that you sign out of the program (from the Help menu) after you have completed the backup so that you don't run into program activation issues.  (If you do, those are easily solved by contacting Adobe Support.)

 

While it is possible to restore the catalog from a regular OS backup of your files, you may run into other difficulties if you do.  The new computer folder hierarchy has to be exactly the same as the old one.  Since I know very little about Macs, I can't give you any further details about that approach.

Thanks for your help. I don't know how to reinstall PSE 19 without a disk. Can I go to a backup for a day before I uninstalled it and reinstall just the application from there?

I got it reinstalled but when i opened the organizer, it loaded an old catalogue and I don't know where those catalogues are found so I'm done trying to fix it. Not sure I will buy pse 23 now anyway.
