Hello, I have been trying to use the suggested ctr/alt/shift to restart my PSE 7 with no results. I am running on Windows 7. Many of the fixes are too complicated for me as I am not very computer savy. I would appreciate help but am afraid I may delete something I'm not supposed to. Phone support is not available in my area. I would really like to use this again.

What happens when you attempt to start the program? Any error messages?

I am not sure as to the Windows 7 update question as I have not used my PSE 7 for a long while. I just noticed all of my photos missing on the computer and checked to see if there was a PSE back up file and it is not working.

You may consider uninstalling the program and re-installing, if you still have the CD.
The photo files are not stored in PSE. They should be on your disk wherever you put them. The Organizer shows thumbnails when activated.
There is no phone support, and Adobe will not support this old version of the program via chat either.
Suggest that you download the free 30 day trial of PSEv.15 if reinstallation fails If that works and you like it, you can purchase the license for 15 subsequently

Following your thread with the Windows 7 comment I believe this may be correct as a windows 7 problem. After clicking a couple buttons an Alert incompatibility alert came up. this is the windows forum comment:
Filename: Photoshop Elements 7.0.exe Full Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Photoshop Elements Version
Many people have got it to work, though some have reported problems.
To install, right click on the Setup file and then click on the Compatibility tab. Put a tick in the box for 'Run this program in Compatibilty Mode' then select Vista underneath. Now put a tick in the 'Run this program as an administrator' box at the bottom. Hit OK. Now double-click on Setup to run it
I cannot find the set up file

I know the program is still listing at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0. when I right click under programs and select troubleshoot. Windows troubleshooting found incompatible application detected ! I don't know how to continue?
