PSE 8 ?

New Here ,

After my Dad moved on to the Greast Generation Heaven his old beloved Dell Inspirion Desktop remained unused for 9 years or so. I just turned it on and as you might expect EVERYTHING wants to update. That said, starting with Windows 7 which is " NO LONGER SUPPORTED " and messages tell me that the OS is NOT " Genuine ". I suppose a semantic arguement can be made as it sure seems to me that almost every company that still exists is trying to figure out ways of making money now with the current POLICIES< PROTOCOLS< and PROCEDURES which basically means " get annual income from products that were once SOLD ONCE for X $'s FOREVER. But now, " FOREVER " is nomore! So lets come up with words that confuse and suggest....suggest that you " get on board " with paying an annual fee to use their product.

To make matters worse, being a " good son " I volunteered to do all of the tings he didn't want to learn or do; including buying this particular Dell FOR HIM after crashing the HIGHEST END HP that he could find but soon didn't like. I purchased this Dell at a well known office supply store as a " close out " but it certainly has the documentation, disks, and holographic sticker on the top rear of the CPU that IMHO should be all I need to communicate with MS to produce SN and other data on the tag. But MS's website now says "NO LONGER SUPPORTED MAY WE RECOMMEND A NEW PC"

A computer help website is no longer as friendly as I remember and like so many HB's these days they are into abbreviated answers. So the the 2 people who replied to my inquiry, if I understand their abbreviated answers " NOTHING RELATED TO WIN 7 will update "

ADOBE, in fact was greeting me with a time to update pop-up for FLASH but I'd get an error code when trying to update and finally found my way to a page that strongly suggested to UNINSTALL all versions of FLASH and while uninstalling I noticed ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 8 I'm not even positive that's it's correct offical name; however I launched it and the message was THIS IS YOUR LAST FREE use of an " unregistered " version of ELEMENTS.

Dad hardly ever registered things that he purchased and IF he did register this ADOBE program I have no idea which email ( or way ) he registered it. I think I found a SN but signing in to ADOBE needs an email or phone number so this account is one I just created with my own email address.

So, what's the bottom line? Is this version of ELEMENTS as garbage ready as this DELL?

Sorry for the "LONG VERSION" of the story.

1. Suggest that you deactivate PSEv,8 via the help menu on the WIN7 machine.

2. Install PSEv.8 with the disk on a computer with a modern operating system If the computer that you utilize currently does not have a CD /DVD drive, you can copy the PSEv,8 disk to a thumb drive and install via USB.

3. Note that there is no "update" for PSEv.8. You can "upgrade" to the currently marketed version of PSE, and you may get a discount from Adobe as a repeat customer.
