PSE Organizer 2019, poor performance/crashes. Win10 pro 64

Explorer ,
Nov 14, 2018 Nov 14, 2018

Organizer took a week to catalogue 15,000 photos. On occasion it has used all available system memory which resulted in my PC blue screening.

Browsing the Organizer is painfully slow. I timed it, a search using details (metadata) takes 2 mins 50 secs.

I have run Optimize and Repair under Catalog manager. No change. Does anyone have any top tips? All other programs run without issue.

My environment info:

Do let us know what the solution is to this fiasco as I am really frustrated about PSE 2019 crashing all the time.

Hi,

I had couple of questions regarding your post, so that we could analyze this further:

Organizer took a week to catalogue 15,000 photos.

1. What do you exactly mean when you say a week to catalogue photos? Does it meaning analysis of photos for faces or some other operation?

2. What is the location of your pictures? Is it on a local drive on your system, an external drive or network?

3. Please let me know the format of your images, are they RAW images, .jpeg images or some other format?

Catalog Cache Size: 2GB

4. Could you please be clearer about this? Please tell me the exact name of folder or the file you are talking about which has size of 2GB.

Browsing the Organizer is painfully slow. I timed it, a search using details (metadata) takes 2 mins 50 secs.

5. Were these operations slow when FR was running on catalog? Is the performance same after pictures have been analysed or is it better?

Thanks,

Somya

It's better now that the pictures have analysed . About 2 seconds.

I still have a repeatable error. If I add names to unNamed faces I can see the memory usage slowly increase. PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe will be at the top of the windows Task Manager consuming all available memory until the PC crashes. It usually takes about 20 mins of me manually adding names to unnamed faces to get to max memory usage

in the time it took me to upload that last post (2 mins) memory usage increased by more than 1GB. I wasn't even using Organizer, it was just open on my desktop
