PSE15 Photo Editor Crashes on Mac

New Here ,
Dec 03, 2016 Dec 03, 2016

Hi,

I am on a MacBook Pro running Sierra 10.12.1. I downloaded Photoshop Elements 15 over a week ago and it worked fine. For the past 5 days or so, when I try to open Photo Editor, I get the following message: "Adobe Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly."

Would really appreciate some help with this -- very frustrated that a brand new program that I need access to right now is not working!

Hi All,

If you are working on MAC OSX10.12 and facing crash while launching Photoshop Elements 15, please install latest PSE15.2 update.

To do so, launch Elements Organizer. Go to Help > Updates

You will see Photoshop Elements 15.2 update.

Let us know if the issue still persists.

Thanks,

Anwesha

I've created a new personal account on my MacBook Pro to launch the app Photoshop Elements 15 again. That works! I can use PSE 15 again.

But, of course, this is not solving the original problem. I hope Adobe will still react and update the app so I can use PSE in my own account.

Hope this has effect. Good luck.

Deleting Preference Setting Files did not fix the issue, for me, but has for some.

Hold Command + Alt + Shift while PE launches.  When dialog box prompts "delete preference setting files", click yes.

iMac 2007  7,1  El Capitan users; THIS WORKS! And some Macbook Pros (but I only have an iMac).

Received the below in an email from Adobe, December 15, 2016:

Hi,

This is regarding the crash report you submitted wherein Photoshop Elements Editor is not launching. We investigated the crash report and came to the conclusion that it is happening on some of the 2007 MAC machines. The crash is happening because application is not able to load one of the plugins. You can safely remove this plugin, as this does not have any functionality impact and it is for performance optimization purpose. Here are the steps to remove the plugin(Please find attached the video):-

-          Go to Applications->Adobe Photoshop Elements 15 ->Support Files

-          Right click on Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app->Show Package contents

-          Go to Contents->Required->Plug-Ins->Extensions

-          In Extensions folder, there would be MMXCore.plugin

You can copy this plugin and paste it on desktop. After copying it, remove this plugin from original location.

Then try launching the application. If the application launches fine, you can move MMXCore.plugin from desktop to trash.

Looking forward to your reply

Regards,

Saurabh
