Elements 6 is not compatible with Camera Raw 8.2.

You cannot update Elements 6 beyond Camera Raw 5.6.

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

Your options are to either upgrade to the current version of Elements (2019) or, stay with Elements 6 and use the free Adobe DNG converter

What version of photoshop elements and operating system are you using?

What camera do you have?

Camera raw updates are cumulative, meaning the same cameras supported in 8.2 are supported in newer camera raw versions.
