Raw not opening Elements15 for D850 after Nikon NEF code update applied

New Here ,

New camera.  NEF files won't open in RAW after the NEF code update from Nikon was applied.  Also used Elements to check for a RAW update...but it says I am updated, less than a minute ago.

Using Photoshop Elements 15 Editor.

Any suggestions?

What operating system are you using?

As far as i know, pse 15 can only use up to camera raw 9.10 and the Nikon D850 requires at least camera raw 9.12.1, so i don't know how you could have opened the Nikon D850 nefs in pse 15.

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

If upgrading to pse 2018 is not in the cards, then you can use the adobe dng converter to convert the nef files to dng copies which then pse 15 should open.

So, as Jeff has said, your options are to either 1) pay to upgrade to PSE 2018, or 2) use the DNG converter and stick with PSE 15.

used the DNG converter ....seems ok as long as I am not processing many pics at a time.  So its a good interim solution for me right now.  Upgraded computer, screen and editing software are on the horizon....   An extra hard drive to store the large files however is on order.

Thanks for the answers. @Jeff Arola and @John Waller
