Installation failure elements 2026

I have a new problem - I tried to open a raw file and a window appeared that said I needed a raw plug-in. There is a raw file for 2025 is that compatible with 2026. If not what do I do.

You normally install from the Editor menu:

Help > Install Camera Raw

I gave an expert from Adobe control of my mac and he tried for about 2.5 hours without success. No one seems to know what the problem is. He said he would pass it up the chain to more senior people and would contact me. Unfortunately he called at a time when I couldn't take the call. Now Adobe are saying they tried to contact me multiple times (not according to my phone which just shows one missed call) and are saying if I don't reply within 24 hours they will remove my problem from their list. If I told you how I really feel about Adobe I would be breaching the forum guidlines. I want to get back in touch with Kamal from Adobe but I don't know how to do that. I am going to tell the virtual assistant in accounts that I want my money back (that got me through to a human being last time. After this performance I don't think I want any Adobe products.

I did try to assist via your separate thread but a manual installation of the Camera Raw plugin did not work for you.

 It is possible to return an app within 30 days of purchase.

We would require more information for the problem. Can you please share below: 

• Is the file opening fine in PSE 2025 and not in PSE 2026?
• What is the file type and extension?
• Is the problem with specific file or with all raw files? 

This will help to isolate the problem.

I'm not sure I understand when you ask if the file opens. Elements 2026 would not install. I didn't reach the stage where I was opening files. Two Adobe advisors have had shared access to my mac for over 3 hours. They both gave up and agreed a refund. The last one mentioned something about patches not being ready. The bottom line is that Elements 2026 can't be installed on a new mac.

I bought the mac a couple of months ago. My old mac ran Elements 2019. Using the new macs systems my software and data was migrated from the old mac to the new mac. Elements 2019 didn't open anymore. I tried re-installing it but that failed too. So I made the decision to upgrade to the latest Elements. That wouldn't install either and as I say two of your colleagues have tried and failed. I found out that although the 2026 installation was reported as failed the software had in fact installed although I couldn't add the additional software that handles raw files. The rest of it worked although the AI features that I tried were poor to say the least. I tried removing background figures and the way they were removed was mickey mouse at best. You could clearly see where they had been. Might have been ok if you were looking at the photo on a small phone screen but if you displayed them on a 66" UHD TV they looked awful.

Adobe is arranging a refund. Fortunately I kept my old mac which has 2019 installed so I can edit photos on that. As far as I am concerned the matter is closed.
