Can you please elaborate more on "resistant to being moved"?  Do you see any errors when you try to move media from one folder to another?

If the media on the hard disk is in wrong folders you can still organise it using Elements Organizer by creating Albums.  You can move the media to specific Albums within Organizer. Doing this will not change the media location on the disk. Please see the following link to know more about Albums in Organizer: Creating albums and album categories in Elements Organizer

In addition to this, you can make use of tags and organize media according to People, Places and Events.

Hope this helps you. Please revert if you have more questions.

Thanks,

Ankit D

Hi Ankit,

Thanks for replying.

I was very relieved to recover my catalogue after a bad crash of my PC.  I had left the catalogue in a mess.  It needs re organising from the top down.  I've created new folders and renamed old ones and moving photos with partial success.  Sometimes PSE11 says "files moved successfully"  when only some or none have and/or they have moved to the wrong folder.

The error "failure to connect" occurs often.  I am reconciled  to deleting such files as a last resort - although I have rescued some by editing and renaming.

Regards,

Graham

Hi Graham,

Organizer instead of importing the whole file just stores the reference to the file on your disk. This saves the space on your disk. Reconnection of files is needed when Organizer can't find the file at the location from where it was imported. In your case since the PC had crashed, I assume that the files now would not be at same locations on your hard drive as they before the crash. You need to connect files before doing any operations.

You can read about reconnecting files at: Elements Organizer Help | Troubleshooting catalog issues.

Thanks,

Ankit D
