I backed up my catalogue PSE 13 windows on an external drive. I attempted to load on a new Mac. The error message for PSE 13 was the catalogue was not supported for MAC. It loaded into PSE18 for Mac. However, I have only one folder with 27,000 photos instead of a folder structure. I lost all tags. Q. Is there a way to change that single large folder into perhaps 27 separate folders of 1,000 pictures each?
Read this, especially the Windows to Mac part (I don't use Macs).

About backup folders.
The result of a backup is a folder.
It is NOT a copy of your photo library and catalog and you can't use it otherwise than with the restore process.

About backup folders.
The result of a backup is a folder.
It is NOT a copy of your photo library and catalog and you can't use it otherwise than with the restore process.
That folders contains:
- renamed versions of all your photo files
- copies of various subfolders and files in your catalog folder
- a 'catalog.buc' file which is a renamed copy of your catalog.pse13db database
- a backup.tly file which holds all the information about your media folders structure to be able to restore it.
So, you have to follow all the steps in the help doc above. You can't split a backup catalog.
